Toa Kaita

When 3 Toa combine, they become their respective Toa Kaita form.

The first Toa known to combine into a Toa Kaita are the Toa Mata after they descended from the Kini-Nui into Makuta's Lair. However, merging bodies and minds has been known for a while, as Nuhrii, Vhisola, Orkahm, Tehutti, Ahkmou, and Ehrye demonstrated while the Toa Metru were fighting the King Root on Metru Nui, by forming the Matoran Nui.
The first two known Toa Kaita, Akamai and Wairuha, were created from Tahu, Onua, and Pohatu and Lewa, Gali, and Kopaka respectively. These two Toa Kaita defeated the Manas crabs, but were torn back apart into Toa Mata upon entry into the heart of Makuta's Lair.
When the Toa Mata became Toa Nuva, they were still able to become Toa Kaita. Wairuha Nuva battled a Bohrok-Kal Kaita, but was defeated, Akamai Nuva was never formed, but is assumed to be able to be. So far, the only Kaita that have been formed from two combinations of Toa are Stone, Earth, and Fire; and Water, Air, and Ice. It is possible to form Kaita of different Elements, but none have been seen yet. If the Toa Nuva ever formed Toa Kaita while wearing Adaptive Armor, the Toa Kaita would possess the armor as well.

- It has been confirmed that Toa Hordika cannot merge into Toa Kaita forms. This is because of their mental battle with their inner Rahi.
- The Toa Metru had the potential to merge into Toa Kaita, but had no idea that they actually could.
- If the Toa Inika would have formed a Kaita, they would have had an Organic Kanohi and Lightning elemental attacks.
- It is unknown if the Toa Hagah did or will and it remains to be seen if the Toa Mahri will.
- Because there were Toa Kaita it is possible that there were Toa Nui as well, though this has never been seen and probably never will.
