The Rahi Nui was a mutant Rahi created by the Brotherhood of Makuta, to hunt down Toa.
It had the head of a Kane-Ra, the forelegs of a Tarakava, the body and hindlegs of a Muaka, the stinger of a Nui-Jaga, and the wings of a Nui-Rama. It was specifically bred to hunt Toa and feed on their Elemental Energy. When hit by elemental energy, it grew even bigger every time, much like to how a Kraawa reacted to physical blows. It had all the powers of the Kanoka disks at one time, but lost them sometime after fighting the Toa Metru and before fighting the Toa Nuva.

The first Toa to come across the Rahi Nui was Lesovikk and he was able to defeat it. How he accomplished this is unknown.
[edit] Toa Metru
The Rahi Nui later fought the Toa Metru beneath Mata Nui. After a short, but intense, battle, the Rahi Nui managed to defeat all of the Toa Metru except Vakama and Nuju. The two then made an important discovery: The Rahi Nui increased in size when abosrbing Elemental Power, but its mass did not increase. The two repeatedly hit with their energies until Rahi Nui's molecules drifted apart.
[edit] Toa Nuva
It later reappeared in the Place of Shadow on Mata Nui, but without its Kanoka powers. When the Toa Nuva faced the Rahi Nui, Turaga Vakama used his Kanohi Huna to lure the Rahi Nui into a wall, but the Rahi reconized his voice. Charging, Rahi Nui missed Vakama and rammed his head into the wall and got its horns stuck. Vakama and the Toa Nuva were then able to escape. The Rahi Nui remained trapped in the wall for a long time, but it is unknown what happened to the Rahi Nui when Mata Nui was destroyed.

The Rahi Nui had traits from several other Rahi species: the head of a Kane-Ra, the forelegs of a Tarakava, the body of a Muaka, the stinger of a Nui-Jaga, and enlarged wings from a Nui-Rama. The Rahi Nui was able to use all of the Kanoka Disk powers and absorb Elemental Energy, but later lost these abilities.
