Onepu is a Ussal champion and Onu-Matoran.

He was captured by the Vahki and placed in a Matoran Pod.
Mata Nui
Onepu is Whenua's right hand Matoran, calling himself his Turaga's Special Aide. He is captain of the famous Ussalry Regiment and was the winner of the Great Ussal Race five times in a row. At the Battle for Kini-Nui, he came to Takua's rescue when he and his company were defending the temple from an army of infected Rahi, leading the Ussalry into the fight. He has since returned to Metru Nui and is helping to rebuild it.
During the Bohrok saga, Onepu witnessed the Onu-Koro Gahlok invasion and, with Taipu's help, was helping the Onu-Matoran evacuate to safety when part of the tunnel collapsed, trapping him, Taipu and Nuparu. When, upon exploring the cave, a Krana-less Gahlok was discovered, Taipu and Nuparu were initially alarmed, but were calmed when Onepu explained they were harmless without the Krana's guidance. It was during this time Nuparu developed the Boxor, with assistance from Taipu and Onepu.
Different media sources portray Onepu's personality in different ways. In the Mata Nui Online Game, Onepu appeared as a humble, brave and hard-working Matoran, as any other. In the Mata Nui Online Game II, he appeared to have gained an attitude somewhat similar to that of Hafu, self-centered and quick to praise himself. When Hahli spoke with him, he announced himself as: High Commander of the Ussalry, Veteran of the Makuta Wars, Right Hand of Turaga Whenua, and Champion Kolhii Forward of Onu-Koro. When she questioned him as to why he was camped on the Ga-Wahi beach, he replied: Ah, you have noticed that our humble accommodations do not suit my station. Do not fret, good Lady! I am as rugged as any Onu-Matoran. Besides, we remain only until we have won the Kolhii match for Onu-Koro. Then we shall journey home, to receive accolades befitting a returning champion. However, even with this change in behavior, he remained extremely brave and loyal to his village.
Set Information
- In 2001, Onepu was released as a promotional set by McDonald's. His set number was 1389.
- His set contained 8 pieces (his mask, his head, his torso, two arms, two legs, and his disk).
- Onepu, along with the other promotional Matoran, has the fewest pieces of any Bionicle set released to date.
- Onepu is one of only two Bionicle sets to include purple pieces (the other being Nui-Jaga).
