Kai was a Ga-Matoran. She was summoned to the Coliseum with the rest of the Matoran of Metru Nui, where she was forced into a Matoran Pod. She, as the other Matoran, were saved by the Toa Metru, who gave up their Toa Power on Mata Nui to awake them. Kai awoke along with the others. She later shrank, became weaker, and forgot all about Metru Nui because of an effect of the spheres.

Kai was a Sailor in Ga-Koro, where she helped Hahli in delivers of Flax. She made String and Rope and visited Marka often, to give her supplies.

She has since returned to Metru Nui, where she helped to rebuild Metru Nui until the Staff of Artahka was used to repair the rest the city. She also went into a ceremony in the Coliseum with the other Matoran, which was held in honor of Matoro.
