Furnace Salamanders were a species of Rahi.
The Furnace Salamander species was created by the Makuta using Viruses and Liquid Protodermis to be one of the Rahi to inhabit the Matoran Universe.
A population of Salamanders settled in Ta-Metru in Metru Nui. They inhabited the dark corners and crevices of furnaces and foundries, sharing their territory with Hikaki. Even the Matoran workers did not see it very often.
When the Morbuzakh attacked Metru Nui, the Salamanders were forced out of the Great Furnace, but the Matoran did not view it as significant. When the Visorak invaded Metru Nui most of the furnaces were destroyed, so the Furnace Salamanders were forced to move to the volcanic vents filled with Liquid Protodermis that surrounded Ta-Metru.
Abilities and TraitsEdit
Furnace Salamanders have long, powerful limbs that they use to jump over great distances and scamper quickly across the ground. They are also equipped with sharp claws that allow them to cling to almost any surface and have short, spiny wings that they use to glide over limited distances. The Salamander's bite is also known to be extremely painful.
When standing upright, a Furnace Salamander is almost the same height as a Toa, although they prefer to move hunched over. They live together in colonies, and if endangered, attack in large swarms, quickly overcoming a foe.
- The Furnace Salamander was an entry sent in to The LEGO Group as part of the LEGO Magazine Rahi-building Contest. It was created by Casey Kinsey and given a name and story role by Greg Farshtey in the book BIONICLE: Rahi Beasts.
