Akamu was an Onu-Matoran.

Nothing is known of Akamu's life on Metru Nui except that he lived in Onu-Metru and was taken away by Vahki and placed in a Matoran Pod. He was later awakened by the Toa Metru.

When he was taken to Mata Nui, Akamu was a Crafter who invented the Sluice, a tool used for collecting Protodermis.

Akamu returned to Metru Nui and helped to rebuild it until the Staff of Artahka was used to repair the rest of the city.
