The Air Katana were the tools of Toa Nuva Lewa, which channeled his Air elemental energy. They could also double as "wings", allowing Lewa to glide on air currents. He received them after emerging from the Energized Protodermis in the lair of the Bahrag. On Voya Nui, Reidak snapped one of Lewa's Air Katana in two, but it was later replaced by Velika. Lewa has replaced his Katana's with an Air Saber and a Midak Skyblaster when he recieved Adaptive Armor.

The two Air Katana's were included with the Toa Nuva Lewa set. The Air Katana could be placed behind Lewa to make glider wings and placed in one hand as a staff. Set wise, the Air Katana's were seen in many other sets as tools of different names and abilities.
